Introducing Madam Butterfly
Imagine my surprise when I discovered that Butterfly was so much quicker to knit than I would have ever thought. Even going to the ocean for 5 fun filled days didn’t deter her completion…

Of all the projects that I have ever knit…Butterfly is the one piece I am the most prowd of. She is my masterpiece. I LOVE this camisole. I love the color, the fit and the way she looks so antique. This is one unique knit! The best part about this project…it wasn’t hard to do! I will be posting all of Butterflys info in my Gallery under ‘Been there Done that’ if you would like to take a look.
Knit Night Update…
Last Wednesday I had knit night with my girls.

Lauren, Heather, Donna & moi
We met at Daedalus Books to start out the night. This place is very cool. It is a discount book warehouse. I will definitely make my way back there. I can’t believe I’ve been living in Columbia for 25 years & I didn’t even know about this place. Thanks Lauren for making us aware of it. Then we went to Macaroni Grill for a good old fashioned italian dinner. We had some wine and Sangria and then off to Borders for some knitting, chit chat & of course there was laughing…as usual. I’m so excited as they had the new fall 2005 Vogue Knitting in stock. More on that later.
Rick and I went to Ocean City, MD for 5 days. We had a fabulous time. Friends of ours invited us down to stay with them. We played 3 days of golf, miniature golf (I got 4 hole in ones…now why can’t I do that when I’m playing real golf), ate fabulous food, relaxed, had Cold Stone ice cream 2 times (my Fave…YUM!) & knit of course.

This is a photo of our view as we were riding across one of there many bridges in our golf cart at Baywood Greens golf course. Their landscaping was unbelievable. There were tons of flowers, fountains, even vegetable plants. I have never seen anything like it.

A pretty flower

This is my favorite photo. Doesn’t it look like a Monet painting?
Hope you enjoyed all the photos. Have a fantabulous weekend!

The Amazing Beautiful Butterfly

Birch…the ending. Butterfly…the beginning
Birch is all finished blocking and she is ready to show off her beauty. Have a look…

This beautiful Birch was my first lace shawl ever. I used Rowan Kidsilk Haze in Smoke and size US6 Addi Natura needles. Because I went down in needle size, so did the finished shawl size. I blocked it to the measurments…72” by 36”. It was a tough go at the beginning…lots of stitches to cast on, getting the first repeat fininshed to see if you were even doing it right, but overall she was an easy knit. The pattern stitch was extremely easy. I love the KSH and this yarn is light as a feather. Photos soon to come of Birch adorning my body.
Butterfly…the beginning...
I am soooo happy to announce that I started working on Butterfly…

This photo shows the provisional cast on & cast off. The back hem is done and I have already finished 1 repeat on the front.

A little closer view. I had a couple problems at first with one stitch, but I figured it out very quickly, This lace pattern is much harder the Birch’s. I love the way this lace hem looks. It is so antique looking. I can not wait to finish this beautiful canisole & wear her out on the town or even for knit night. Hey…I might even wear this baby around the house! I LOVE it in the Pearl color. The pattern calls for US8 needles and I automatically went down to a US7. I’m loose you know. I ordered some of the Bryspun needles. I tested these out knitting the lace pattern using my KSH in smoke. They are fabulous needles for lace. The tips are very pointy & they are extremely comfortable to hold. The only problem is I can’t use them for Butterfly as the yarn is almost the same color as the needles. I do believe I need to see the stitches when kitting this pretty girl! Don’t you? Next time though!
Well…that’s all I’ve got for today.
Have a great one!

I caved in and I’m no Wilma Flinstone
I caved in and bought this…

I’ve had a 35mm SLR for years. Since digital cameras came out, I have not even touched the big one. So I finally decided to go for it. I am in love. If it wasn’t for Cara...I would have never known about how great this camera is. I would really like to get into Macro photography. It is amazing the amount of detail in flowers, bugs, leaves, nature, everything actually. Here are a couple practice shots I took…

By the way…I hope everyone had a fabulous 4th of July!!! I love seeing Fireworks. This is one of my test shots. It needs some work. Next time I’ll use a tripod.
Here is another photo that I took…

These are some plastic grapes that are on a 3 tier display that I have in my kitchen.
Birch Update...

I have 14 repeats to go! I have been so busy with the holiday and plenty of fun times that I have not knit very much. I still love Birch though…not sick of her at all…already thinking about my next shawl to knit…after an attempt with Rowan Butterfly. Ohhhhh how I love this camisole…yes I’m going to knit the Cami…not the dress. How cute will that be over another cami & some jeans or a skirt?
Workout Update...
I have been super dedicated to my workouts. Last week I did weights twice, cardio 3 times, Pilates once and golf 3 days in a row. I had lost my swing…but I got it back yesterday. I got a 106!!! Woohoo!!! Last year I bought 2 push carts (you put your golf clubs on it & push it) for Rick & I. We decided to test it out yesterday. On my…was that hard. We ended up walking about 4 1/2 miles…up hill & dale. We were so sore & tired when all was said & done. We were totally drenched as it was very hot and humid. One thing I know for sure…we are walking all the time from now on. It is great excercise. I’m sure we will get more used to it as we do it more often.
I got an email a couple of weeks ago from Rob Maran. They are sending out this book to select members of the knitting community at no charge and I got picked. I just recieved the Knitting & Crocheting book today and it looks like a really great book. It has lots of projects in it with tons of photos and techniques. I’m really looking forward to going through it…after I knit a little on Birch.
Make it a fabulous night!

Living for Laughter
Laughter is one of the healthiest things you can do yourself. Laughter is actually supposed to be good for your body & mind. Well I surely hope it’s true because I sure laughed a ton last night. Now who can guess what last night was? Not sure? Need a hint? Alright I’ll tell you…It was Knit Night!

Lauren, Heather, Me and Tanya. We finally got to meet the Muse. She is simply fabulous. We had the best time. See the kooky face I’m making…well Tanya was laughing so hard that she made me laugh hard & I was trying to calm down just a bit to get this picture taken. We went to the Rams Head Tavern for some drinks and dinner. We all decided that our waiter was mundane, monitone, dead, a zombie, no personality…you get the picture. Our food was blah, I got my meal for free, plus we got 10% off the entire bill…but we still managed to have such a fabulous time. And we LAUGHED a lot!!! Now, who doesn’t love to laugh. We even got to knit a little. We went outside in the courtyard after our meal & knit & talked & laughed. It was the most perfect day and night yesterday. Here’s a couple more photos…

Meet Zira. I’m sure some of you have seen or met her. Zira Is the monkey that talented Tanya hand knit. She is holding little pink mommy monkey, who is holding little pink baby monkey. I am in love with these monkeys. They are adorable!
Birch Update...

She’s looking purty isn’t she? There are 209 stitches remaining. Wow…is that all I’ve knit?
As of late, I will leave you with a couple Flower photos...

Such beauty!!
Have a great reat of the day!

Come out come out wherever you are
Olive…is that you? I almost forgot what you looked like. I’m so sorry that I haven’t payed attention to your lovely green ribbiness. Please don’t fret as you are in the lime light today! See…

Yes…ther are 2 sleeves to this sweater & yes…this is numero dos. I am now trying to finish Olive like a mad woman as I NEED to start a couple other projects without feeling guilty. I want to knit the One Skein Wonder. I have seen plenty of these around here (scroll down), here and also here and they are all great looking. What a cute, quick knit to warm the shoulders & add a little pizazz. I’m either going to knit it with Debbie bliss Cashmerino Aran in color #102 or Karabella Aroura 8 (not sure of the color but love this yarn) I also want to cast on for a lace shawl. I’m waiting for some of this to come in the mail & then I will cast on. I’d like to knit the Flower Basket shawl…but I’m not sure about the crochet edging. I love it though. Any suggestions on some really nice shawls that are pretty easy? This will be my first big lace project (I made lace socks) I love Birch and am tring to figure out how it would come out in the Zephyr or I may just try it in this color
So…that’s it for now. Have a great one! Try to enjoy whatever weather Mother Nature is throwing your way!

What are the results of Warm weather arrival…
a lot less blogging. I just can’t help myself. There is so much to do in the nicer weather & lots more daylight to do it in. I absolutely LOVE this time of year!!! When winter is here & it gets dark at 5:00…I could easily put on my PJ’s, knit & watch TV. I get tired earlier, but seem to stay up later. In the summer it is…run, run, run, come home & cook dinner, and I have lots more energy. Then all of a sudden…BAM, I’m pooped & go to bed earlier. One reason I’m more tired…I’ve been working out alot. 5-6 days a week. Last week I took 2 private Pilate’s classes for 1 hour each, worked out with weights 2 days, did cardio 3 days & played golf 1 day. I get really tired at night & I have to say I have been sleeping really well from all the excercise & runnign around. Allright now…lets get into the
Knitting News....
I’m steadily working on the Love Vest & really enjoying it…

I have 10 1/2 inches completed so far. At 15 in. I start the armhole shaping. Can’t wait! This yarn is fabulous. In the skein, it looks different then when knitted up. It is much more full and fluffy when knitted up. It is a very odd occurance that I have never experienced before. Have I told you that I really like this yarn?
I got a lovely present from Lolly...

This beautiful, colorful yarn is Woolarina.com Handpaints. It is a superwash sport weight yarn & feels fabulous. Thank you soooo much Lolly. I have been trying to think what to make with this yarn. I think I have an idea. Tell me what you think…Knit up a long thin scarf from all of the yarns that were gifted to me. I would knit different lengths of each yern right after the other until I was satisfied with the length. They are all very different yarns also. Some are shiny, some are fluffy, some are lumpy & some are smooth. It could work, don’t you think?
Knit night Update…my girls & I...

Donna, me, Heather & Lauren. Last Thursday we went to El Azteca (Mexican) for dinner. I love Mexican food. Yum!!! We really got carried away & had 2 Cadilac Margerita’s each!!! Damn they were great! Then we went back to my house to knit. It was another fun knit night. Duh…so what else is new. Donna is going away this Friday so we won’t get to see her for another 2 weeks. :-(
Please don’t get sick of our poses…we are goofy girls & like to have lots of fun! Come join us any time you would like!
Make it a fantabulous week…will ya?

What a Weekend!
You know…all this hype leading up to the MD Sheep & Wool…well it’s damn true. I had the best time. It was a beautiful weekend weatherwise. To start the very long & fabulous day on Saturday was breakfast at the Double T Diner. I met Heather, Donna & Kelly there. Kelly…it was really great meeting you…finally…after all of the fabulous things that I hear about you from Heather. Boy was I shocked when in walked Carrie, Jenny & Anne Marie, Cheryl, Sara & a few others. We talked & ate…

Then everyone (except me…went to my Granddaughter’s First Communion) headed off to the festival. I met them later in the afternoon.

And of course I met Stephanie & got my book signed. Thanks Lauren for taking this great photo of Stephanie & I.

This is Tanya’s adorable little Zira. She is the cutest handmade amimal I have ever seen! And speaking of animals…

This baby Alpaca is such a cutie. Help me!

I’m the MAN!
After the festival we went to Strapazza’s for dinner…

We met up with Kate, her Mom & a friend, Rebecca, Beth, Elisa & Lauren. Here is Donna & I showing off our newly finished Cardigan’s…

What a fabulous day!!! I’m so happy that I got to meet lots of bloggers…but sad that I missed some that I really wanted to meet. Then on Sunday I went with my DH to the festival. I didn’t buy much yarn…but here is what I got…

This is Morehouse Merino. I like that they come in kits. They have beautiful yarn in gorgeous colors. These will knit up to a very lightweight scarf & wrap. Perfect for the warmer weather.

This is Suri Elegance. It is beautiful Laceweight Alpaca. I will probably make some lace shawls with these.
Last but not least, I bought this beauty…

She is called Swan Lake. This is from Golding. It’s great for travel & bringing along on knit nights!
I already can’t wait until next years Festival. I WILL make a point to meet up with lots more bloggers…you can bet on that!!!
Knitting News...
I have not had time to knit too much, but this is what I have done…

Wall Street Cables…also ‘Labor of Love’ for my DH. This baby has 186 stitches cast on just for the back. This sweater will take me a long time as I am knitting a couple other things at the same time.
Now that’s a lot of pics. Hope you enjoyed them!
We are going away tomorrow to Naples, FL with some other couples. It’s golf time & we are going to play 3 days in a row. I’m really looking forward to this trip. I’ll catch you all next week when I return. Have a fabulous week!!

Celebrate, Celebrate…Dance to the Music
That’s right, it’s time for a Celebration. My Tweedy Aran Cardigan is now a Finished Object. All I can say is it’s about time. I started this sweater about 3 years ago a little after I first started knitting. I put her down to start some other projects…which in fact I will never do again…Once I start someting I will finish it before moving on. I am extremely happy with the outcome. Unlike Eloise…this baby fits perfectly. Now thats the way it should be all the time. Don’t you think? Take a look at Maya modeling her front…

And without her knowing…her back…

Here is moi…so proud of her completion…

I was so excited when I finished putting on the buttons yesterday, That I had to wear her last night to dinner. This sweater was definitely the hardest piece that I have knitted to date. There were times when I had 3 counters going at once. The stitches are also more intricate. Now I can finish Olive. I’m also going to start Rick’s Wall Street Cable Vest…also known as ‘LABOR OF LOVE’ today. As soon as I finish Olive, I’d like to finish Smooch & start Rowan’s Butterfly.
About MD Sheep & Wool...I am so upset that I’m not going to be able to meet up with all the bloggers who are meeting at 12:30. I have an important family function that I have to be at. If anyone is interested in meeting up at around 4:30…let me know. I would LOVE to meet whoever I can!
There is a Yahoo group called KnitPug. It relates to knitters who use their PDA for knitting. I am so intrigued by this as I hate carrying around the big pattern book. I have printed out patterns, though I really love putting the patterns on my PDA. It is so awesome. I also downloaded this software called CountAble I switch between the 2 applications. They have some very cool software for the PDA for knittiers. I have already downloaded Wall Street Cables to my PDA. Now I just have to figure out how to put the Cable pattern in Excel.
I will be getting Rogue back hopefully this week. I can’t wait to see what she looks like with her zipper in!
Take care & have a fantabulous week!!!
